At my workshops, YOU are my primary focus. My attention is on the participants of a workshop, not my own photography. I am there to help you improve your photography and to be accessible.

2027 Workshops
Most of my 2027 photography workshops will be offered through Shutter Nonsense, the photography podcast and nature photography education website that fellow photographer Michael Rung and I founded. After a couple of years of leading workshops together, we’re giving our workshops a shared home, with the same focus on small groups, personal attention, and hands-on learning. This makes it easier to find workshop details, register, and ask questions.

Yosemite Winter 2027
February 4–8, 2027
Explore Yosemite Valley’s towering granite cliffs, waterfalls, and scenes along the Merced River in winter. Join Michael and me to photograph iconic views and quieter details, with hands-on guidance in composition, exposure, and making the most of changing light.
Smoky Mountains Spring 2027
April 20–24, 2027
Photograph the fresh greens, spring dogwoods, flowing streams, and hazy mountain layers of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Michael and I will help you explore everything from sweeping overlooks to intimate forest scenes, with individual guidance in composition and photographing moving water.
Smoky Mountains Fall 2027
October 25–29, 2027
Explore autumn in the Smokies, from layers of mountains to colorful forests and streams beneath the fall canopy. Join Michael and me for sunrise and sunset outings, stream photography, and personal instruction to help you turn a beautiful scene into a stronger photograph.
Death Valley Winter 2027
December 6–10, 2027
Discover Death Valley’s varied landscapes, from sculpted sand dunes and salt flats to colorful badlands and rugged canyons. Michael and I will help you find compositions in the desert’s shapes, textures, and changing light, with hands-on instruction tailored to your photography.
