Meet Jeffrey Tadlock

I’ve been around cameras and photography for a long time in various forms.

As a kid, my dad was an advanced amateur photographer with a Nikon film camera and always with camera books around, and new pictures being developed. Whether it be pictures of the family or pictures from family vacations or even the cool pictures he used to make with double-exposures - it seems only natural that at some point I gravitate towards the craft of photography.

My first ever camera of my own was a Kodak Pocket Instamatic. I think most of my early pictures were of the various family pets and things on the farm! As I got older and into high school, I got to borrow my dad’s camera. Most of those photos were of BMX freestyle events and skateboarding competitions. I cut my teeth on learning camera settings during those years.

For high school graduation, I received a Ricoh KR5 Super II with a 28-200mm zoom lens. This camera traveled all across the country with me. From the top of the highest peak in the Rocky Mountain National Park to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and all sorts of landscapes in between. I still have this camera today, safely stored in my camera cabinet.

I dabbled with digital cameras in the early days with cameras like the Sony Mavica that used a 3.5” floppy disk to store pictures on through a series of point-and-shoot Canon Powershots.

Then I didn’t photograph actively for several years (okay - much closer to a decade) as I focused on other things. We still had cameras in the house, they just weren’t my priority at the time.

Eventually, around 2016 I picked up my wife’s old Nikon d3100 camera, and the fire for photography was lit again - and I haven’t stopped since.

With a renewed passion for photography, I started taking landscape photos again, upgrading and acquiring more and more camera gear, and making a business out of people photography (predominantly specializing in headshots) while continuing to use landscape photography as a creative and relaxing outlet.

Today, I’ve been putting even more effort into my landscape photography with the creation of a YouTube channel to share some of my experiences and as a way to help others find the enjoyment in landscape photography that I have.
